Sunday…

Had a full day today, church…Zion Lutheran Church ham Dinner, and then a trip into town to look for some dresses for Ashley.  We were successful, thank goodness!  The girls legs are getting longer and the dresses are getting shorter!

The Ham dinner was nice, I got to see some old friends from Hondo, got tears in my eyes reminiscing…I was so lucky to grown up around such awesome people…

The blog prompt today is…

Fall Favorites

Make a list of your Fall Favorites: fruits, vegetables, soups, hot beverages, desserts, places to visit, activities, movies, etc.

Let’s see…In October mom and I go to Red River, NM to visit Judith.  This is the absolute favorite thing about fall for me.  Here it is still pretty hot…but I get to go to crisp beautiful weather…quite chilly at night…and when it’s time for us to go home we tend to get the first snow.  Visiting with Judith, mom and Rebecca is a highlight of my year.  Hoping that Vivian and Beverly come this year…so I am counting the days…here are a few photos of trips past…

A day of thrifting, surprise meetings and good food

What a lovely day...at Port A and the kids went to the aquarium. So I was on my own. With the South Jetty classifieds in hand, I took off for some garage sales and thrift stores. First one I stopped at was in the Lost Colony subdivision and I found some beautiful textiles...

A quilt piece, table topper and napkins, tea towel, and two darling mini stockings made out of quilts.
Then I headed back into town to one of the churches...they have a great thrift shop. Found a bit of bright fabric, DVD and VHS to leave here for the kids, some old candlesticks to craft with, a bag of yarn for 2 dollars. Heck there was alpaca in there... And somebodies cut knit and crocheted dishcloths.

Last stop I didn't find anything to purchase but ran into an old Hondo buddy Dana Pope. It was so good to see her and visit with her. What a nice surprise. Then before heading home I stopped at the Phoenix for lunch. It has been a long time since I've been and I wasn't disappointed! Yummy crab cake with aoli, broccoli and rice. Had creme brûlée for desert. Heaven.

August Break picture a day...

Just saw this on Betz White's Blog thought I'd play along...here is what she had to say
"Yesterday I was over at Susannah's blog and came across her concept of "The August Break". In her words:

"Okay, here’s the plan for the August Break: you simply share one photo (or more!) per day on your blog – Monday to Friday, or every day. Or whenever you feel moved to share. Using any camera – DSLR, compact, Polaroid, Holga, iPhone (my choice), Instax, film or digital – with or without words – anything goes! – for the whole of August. No pressure – just looking at August through your camera lens as a way to be more present this summer. And to have a little break from the pressures and expectations of regular blogging."
End of note from Betz..."

So I thought I would play...

If you are from Texas you will recognize this...

Girls time out...

Ok there are girl's night out, ladies weekends, and whatever you want to call it. I like the idea of "time out". Us mom's can relate to time outs. Usually it's a punishment for the kids so they can sit and think of what they've done...and try to figure out if it was worth sitting in the corner for. Ha. That would be my definition of course. The type of "time out" I'm talking about is a chance to take some time out of the daily crazies and enjoy time with friends, family, or whatever playmates you choose. You have to find a "corner", which is defined as any place out of reach of whatever makes your life crazy or busy.
I was just blessed with a "Time Out" with my beautiful mother-in-law, Renee. And equally beautiful sister-in-laws...Nadine, Michelle, Jennifer, and Melissa. Throw in a darling, soon to be a mom, niece Alison and you have a perfect "time out". We celebrated Renee and michele's birthdays, ate, shopped, and had a wonderful time.
We stayed at a great out of the way B&B called "the barn at the Quarry" outside of Fredericksburg
/Find here
It was perfect, the rooms were great, breakfast great, scenery great, and peace and quiet great.
We ate some great food. Hilltop cafe, Peachtree , and a nice visit to Lincoln St. Wine bar (one of my fav places in the whole world). I've tried to rate the restaurants on yelp. Yelp is an awesome app and website. Go visit here

Oh, I had my "time out" did some serious thinking and deemed it a just punishment. Will for sure do it again!
